Rio Grande Hotels & Resorts
Thirty minutes from San Juan and situated on Puerto Rico’s northern coast is Rio Grande. Named after the great river that flows through its land, Rio Grande is home to El Yunque Caribbean National Forest. Extending over 28,000 acres, the preserve features walking paths that trail among 240 types of trees and a number of exotic plants such as tiny wild orchids, bamboo trees, giant ferns and trumpet trees. The onsite El Portal Tropical Forest Center has film exhibits and interactive displays about the rainforest. The rare Puerto Rican parrot is also indigenous to El Yunque. Golf courses, casinos and beaches round out the available activities in Rio Grande.
